Internal Alterations, Littlehampton:

Overview: This project featured the removal of a load-bearing wall between the kitchen and dining room to create a more functional and spacious area for the family.

Details: Our commission started with a site inspection to determine whether the wall was load-bearing. We then discussed the structural implications of the proposals with the client, prior to designing a steel beam to support the timber first-floor joists and a steel post to provide lateral restraint to the external wall.

Existing and proposed structural AutoCAD drawings were produced, in addition to the necessary structural calculations, for submission to building control and contractors.
